Shepherds Crooks
"The possible's slow fuse is lit by the imagination"
Emily Dickinson.
So stylish, so elegant - so simple!
These stylishly simple shepherd's crooks are an excellent way of decorating or creating a floral walkway. They are just perfect for framing an aisle in a blessing marquee; leading the eye down and along to the main focal area.
The lower end of the crook is spiked and can simply be pushed into the ground, providing good anchorage for adding 'pom-pom' decorations.
The crook end has a decorative ceramic knob; this tiny attention to detail adds volumes of charm to these great holders.
The flower ball decoration is not difficult to create using a ready-shaped ball of florist foam and (if your budget is tight), a bunch of chrysanthemums finished off with a length of beautiful ribbon - so simple yet so effective!
End note
Chrysanthemums have often received relatively bad press. I have even heard of florists refusing to have them in their shop! However, they are a very underestimated flower and are invaluable for projects requiring inexpensive 'block' coverage - such as these 'pom-pom' decorations. New varieties have been introduced that are regarded as totally modern - even trendy - it's worth a look!
Several Dutch florists are attempting to promote the value of these versatile flowers. They offer a good range of colour, have a very long vase life (4weeks) and you either love them or loathe them!
